Organised in collaboration with Atelier Doisneau, Paris
Robert Doisneau, the iconic photographer of the 20th century, is renowned for his humanist approach in photography, an approach with a long tradition in French photojournalism.
The exhibition "Robert Doisneau, Paris en liberté" is the first major retrospective of the photographer's work since 1995. It seeks to explore the Paris of Robert Doisneau’s imagination, the Paris that he photographed ceaselessly during his whole career.
Shown at the City Hall in Paris in 2007, the exhibition was a major success with over 300,000 visitors. 280 black and white prints spanning Robert Doisneau's career from the 1930's to the 1980's are presented in the exhibition.
